Teacher Bargaining Summary: July 26, 2023
In attendance: HEA: Jane Shawn, Anna Alger, Adam Clinch, Joanne Didriksen, Paul Phillips, Jonna Schwartz, Jake Warner, Larry Nielsen; HSD: Josh McKay, Keri Mizell, Wynn Randall, Brett Zanto, Bea Kavala; Mediator: Dave Luckey
HEA made the first proposal at 10:00 a.m.
HEA rejects the HSD package deal from 6/6/23, with the understanding that if a single item in the package is rejected, the entire proposal is rejected
No restriction on lane movement
23/24: 2.5% increase to the salary matrix, all cells
24/25: 2.5% increase
Insurance costs covered both years at single premium rate by HSD
No change of current contract language of working conditions excepting those things that we have already agreed to in language conversations
HSD made a counter proposal at 11:00 a.m.
Items we already agreed upon in previous bargaining sessions
Board Certs frozen if not renewed
Tuitions and fees suspended for two years
Sabbaticals suspended for 24/25 and 25/26
$70,000 cap on new professionalism
$30.56/hour rate for additional teaching
Lane movement: one lane per year maximum starting in 2024-2025
Two 20-minute supervision sessions starting in 2024-2025
0.5% increase in 23/24; 0.5% increase in 24/25, 0.5% additional in 24/25 contingent on all levies passing
No increase on the insurance
HEA did not agree to this proposal. A counter proposal was offered that will be discussed at the next meeting.
HEA and HSD are committed to finding a solution that is acceptable to all and we will continue to meet until we have fulfilled that obligation.
