Teacher Bargaining - September 5, 2023

HEA/HSD Mediation September 5, 2023


HSD Proposal: 8:30 a.m.


· Items we already agreed upon in previous bargaining sessions

· Lane Movement: one lane per year maximum starting in 2024-2025

· 0.5% in 2023-2024, 0.5% in 2024-2025, 0.5% additional in 2024-29025 contingent on all levies passing

· No increase on the insurance



HEA response: 10:20 a.m.


· One year contract

· Previous language discussed (as per HSD “proposal” package)

o Tuition Fees, Sabbatical, PD (except $70,000) suspend for the 2023-2024 contract (actually effective in 2024-2025 school year)

o BC lapsed, frozen until reinstated or salary matrix catches up

o Montessori stipends frozen for current teachers, no stipend for newly hired teachers into Montessori

· No change in lane movement system (need more data)

· Use general fund reserve dollars to increase the cafeteria benefits to the single premium plan + the mandatory life insurance cost for 2023-2024 only--insurance is possibly being revamped for 2024-2025 and after (the reserve has more dollars than Board policy requires)

· 1.5% increase in the salary matrix (out of the 2.7% received from the state)

· 0.5% in 2023-2024

o Montessori stipends frozen for current teachers, no stipend for newly hired teachers into Montessori

· One lane movement only this year (paperwork submitted in April 2024 would only be allowed one lane movement in the 2024-2025 school year).

· Any increase in single premium health insurance benefit will be shared equally by the employee and the district (50% employee and 50% district)—for the 2023-2024 school year the contribution would increase by $62.00/month for both the district and the employee

· 1.5% increase in the salary matrix
